Founded in 1884, The Hong Kong Jockey Club (“the Club”) is a world-class racing club that acts continuously for the betterment of our society. The Club has a unique integrated business model, comprising racing and racecourse entertainment, a membership club, responsible sports wagering and lottery, and charities and community contribution. Through this model, the Club generates economic and social value for the community and supports the HKSAR Government in combatting illegal gambling.

The Racing Division is committed to managing all aspects of Hong Kong’s world-class sport of horse racing, covering the full value chain — from importation and training to racedays, equestrian, welfare, integrity, and international engagement.  With Conghua Racecourse and Greater Bay Area expansion, we’re shaping racing into a dynamic sporting, social, and entertainment experience.

 

Job Summary

The job holder reports to Senior Manager, The Racing Club Membership.

 

Drive sustainable membership growth for The Racing Club by acquiring and retaining high-quality members, developing strategic partnerships, and delivering exceptional member and prospect experiences. The role is responsible for meeting membership acquisition targets through business development, networking, referral generation, and targeted recruitment initiatives. It builds and manages relationships with corporate partners, financial institutions, professional associations, and luxury brands to expand the prospect pipeline and enhance brand visibility.

 

The position works closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless membership application processing, successful execution of recruitment and engagement events, and a high standard of customer service. It actively engages members and prospects through race meetings, lifestyle events, and other Club activities to increase participation, strengthen loyalty, and identify future membership opportunities, including potential horse owners.

 

The role contributes directly to the Club’s revenue growth, membership sustainability, and customer satisfaction while ensuring compliance with Responsible Gambling Policy requirements and all relevant regulatory standards, thereby protecting the integrity and reputation of the Club.

 

The Job

  • Drive new Membership growth by executing strategies established by Racing Club Management and achieving both individual and team membership acquisition targets. Performance is measured by annual membership intake, member retention rates, and the successful cultivation of high-potential members who may become future horse owners.
  • Support the development and implementation of membership acquisition strategies to attract high-quality prospects aligned with the Club's target membership profile. Build and manage a strong prospect pipeline through direct engagement, referrals, strategic networking, and targeted business development initiatives.
  • Identify and pursue emerging market segments and new business opportunities through market intelligence, relationship-building, and proactive business development efforts to support sustainable membership growth.
  • Establish and cultivate strategic commercial partnerships with corporations, family offices, financial institutions, professional associations, and luxury brands to generate high-quality membership leads and expand the Club’s prospect network.
  • Develop and execute ongoing acquisition campaigns, collaborative marketing initiatives, and engagement programmes with strategic partners to drive membership growth and enhance brand visibility. Proactively engage and follow up with prospective members throughout the acquisition journey, providing personalized support and guidance to facilitate membership conversion.
  • Coordinate closely with internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure the seamless processing of membership applications and delivery of exceptional candidate experience.
  • Work on event logistics and cost control; provide on-site support to ensure successful execution of the membership recruitment and commercial partnerships events.
  • Attends duty on Racedays, pre-sale activities and Members’ programs whenever required; cultivate full understanding of customer behaviour and needs including existing Members or potential customers, by knowing them during race meetings or events.
  • Drives Members’ attendance at races, participation at various events (racing and lifestyle) and non-raceday experiences; conducts prospecting among Members’ guests if appropriate.
  • Maintains good relationship and provides high quality customer services to Members so as to maintain customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Handle existing Members / public enquiries independently including reply to incoming calls / written and e-correspondences.
  • Ensures compliance with Responsible Gambling Policy (RGP) and all stipulated legal requirements pertaining to wagering, thereby protecting the integrity of the Club’s business.
  • Undertakes other duties as assigned by Line Manager.

 

About You

  • A university degree holder in business administration, marketing, hospitality or related discipline
  • A minimum of 6-8 years hands on experience in sales and business development or hospitality at high-end membership-based organisations, 5-star hotel or financial institution
  • Experience in sales management and account management roles targeting HNWI/UHNWI demographics in Hong Kong
  • Experience in affiliated marketing and commercial partnerships
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good attention to details and logistics
  • Professional manner on handling confidential information 
  • Hands-on computer skills in MS Word & Excel
  • Fluency in spoken English and Chinese, which includes Cantonese and Putonghua 
  • Knowledge of horse racing an advantage
