Museum Officer

Job Summary

The job holder supports the Public Affairs Corporate and Charities Communications Department in telling the HKJC brand story to create positive perception towards the Club in the Mainland and Hong Kong. The jobholder supports the department via elevating our Museum experience and future engagement touchpoints to:

  1. become a centre of excellence for racing heritage & philanthropy through fully representative exhibitions, collections and research; 
  2. help conceive and develop innovative and immersive experiences and programmes to engage the public and stakeholders; 
  3. tell diverse stories of horse racing and the Club's past and present; 
  4. create permanent and temporary exhibitions for a wide range of audiences

 

The Job

You will:

  • Supports daily operation of the Museum and engagement programmes
  • Carries out administrative work related to part-time staff management, maintenance of venue, conservation of exhibits and procurement process
  • Provides customer centric services and leads guided tours (in native level Mandarin and fluently in Cantonese and English) to ensure visitors are offered an informative, engaging and consistent experience
  • Assists in planning, organising, and promoting exhibitions, engagement programmes and Club events held in the Museum
  • Conducts researches to inform the development of exhibit content, ensuring historical accuracy and cultural relevance
  • Implements regular and necessary updates of the Museum contents as well as other touch points to ensure a timely and accurate reflection of the Club's heritage and brand image
  • Assists in any other related projects and duties assigned by supervisors

 

About You

You should have:

  • Undergraduate / Postgraduate qualification in Museum Studies, Marketing, Communications or related discipline
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience and with proven track record in museum management, contents development or development of mass public engagement programmes
  • Experiences and skills in interpreting and curating history, sports, and corporate topics
  • Knowledge of horse racing and Hong Kong history would be a plus
  • Strong communication skills with ability to coordinate inquiries with competing priorities
  • Native proficiency in Mandarin, with advanced proficiency in Cantonese and English
  • Presentable and engaging
  • Meticulous / has an eye for details
  • Can work under pressure

 

Terms of Employment

The level of appointment will be commensurate with qualification and experience.
