Founded in 1884, The Hong Kong Jockey Club (“the Club”) is a world-class racing club that acts continuously for the betterment of our society. The Club has a unique integrated business model, comprising racing and racecourse entertainment, a membership club, responsible sports wagering and lottery, and charities and community contribution. Through this model, the Club generates economic and social value for the community and supports the HKSAR Government in combatting illegal gambling.
The Division
The Racing Division is committed to managing all aspects of Hong Kong’s world-class sport of horse racing, covering the full value chain — from importation and training to racedays, equestrian, welfare, integrity, and international engagement. With Conghua Racecourse and Greater Bay Area expansion, we’re shaping racing into a dynamic sporting, social, and entertainment experience.
The Department
The Equestrian Affairs Department aims to fulfil the Club’s vision to promote riding as a sport and raise participation at all levels, from beginner through to elite. It oversees the management of four equestrian centres, including the Member’s facility at the Beas River Country Club and three public riding schools at Tuen Mun, Pok Fu Lam and Lei Yue Mun.
The Job (Vary by Roles)
For Coaches (Equestrian, Senior Equestrian, Equestrian Competition):
- Provide private and group lessons for adults and children.
- Conduct stable management and simulator-based sessions.
- Develop lesson plans and competition preparation programs.
- Mentor staff and students for BHS assessments.
- School horses and ponies to maintain fitness and behavior.
- Ensure compliance with safety and welfare standards.
For Performance Jumping Coach:
- Deliver specialist jumping coaching to all levels.
- Develop and execute youth programs for talented riders.
- Select and train horses for show jumping.
- Act as coach for National Youth Squad and support international competitions.
- Oversee jumping competitions and contribute to show committee.
For Manager, Riding School:
- Manage day-to-day operations of the riding school.
- Organize equestrian activities and riding school shows.
- Provide on-the-job training and staff development for BHS levels.
- Coordinate BHS exams and maintain accreditation.
- Promote equestrian sports through events and roadshows.
About You
- Equestrian Coach:
- BHS Stage 3 Complete or equivalent; 3+ years experience.
- Senior Equestrian Coach:
- BHS Stage 4 Complete; 9+ years experience.
- Performance Jumping Coach:
- Experienced jumping rider (1.40m level); BHSI or equivalent.
- Manager, Riding School:
- BHS Stage 4 Complete or equivalent; 5+ years experience.
- All roles require:
- Experience coaching riders of all ages and levels.
- Knowledge of horse training methods; experience with thoroughbreds preferred.
- First Aid certification and safeguarding knowledge.
- English fluency; Cantonese an advantage.
