Manager, Riding School (Beas River Equestrian Centre)

The Club has a unique integrated business model, comprising racing and racecourse entertainment, a membership club, responsible sports wagering and lottery, and charities and community contribution. The Division

The Racing Division is committed to managing all aspects of Hong Kong’s world-class sport of horse racing, covering the full value chain — from importation and training to racedays, equestrian, welfare, integrity, and international engagement.  With Conghua Racecourse and Greater Bay Area expansion, we’re shaping racing into a dynamic sporting, social, and entertainment experience.

The Department

The Equestrian Affairs Department aims to fulfil the Club’s vision to promote riding as a sport and raise participation at all levels, from beginner through to elite. It oversees the management of four equestrian centres, including the Member’s facility at the Beas River Country Club and three public riding schools at Tuen Mun, Pok Fu Lam and Lei Yue Mun. The Beas River Equestrian Centre, being the largest in Hong Kong, houses 257 horses and provides world class facilities including a riding school, livery yard, competition centre, rehabilitation and retraining unit, as well as a spelling unit for Hong Kong’s racehorses.

The Job

You Will:

 

1. Member & Client Services

  • Deliver riding lessons, schooling sessions, and equestrian activities for HKJC Members, guests, and BREC clients.

  • Resolve riding class or livery issues, support administration, and manage Riding School Shows.

 

2. Safety & Welfare

  • Enforce HKJC and British Horse Society (BHS) safety standards.

  • Ensure horse welfare, tack/equipment safety, and conduct heat stress assessments.

  • Participate in Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) meetings and safeguarding committee.

 

3. Horse & Pony Management

  • Oversee daily horse care with vets, farriers, and saddlers.

  • Maintain feed records, schooling/rehabilitation plans, and horse allocations for lessons/competitions.

  • Support training programs to enhance horse performance.

 

4. Staff Development

  • Provide on-the-job training and career progression via BHS pathways.

  • Coordinate weekly staff training and annual BHS exams.

 

5. External Liaison

  • Collaborate with HKJC departments, government bodies, and private sectors.

  • Promote equestrian sports through events, clinics, and roadshows.

  • Manage BHS accreditation and vet student placements.

 

6. Operations Management

  • Work with Senior Manager Equestrian to improve efficiency and financial management.

  • Implement rider development programs and IT solutions for BRRS.

  • Support policies and promote client participation in events and livery ownership.

 

7. Coach Management

  • Lead weekly coach meetings, oversee administration tasks, and manage horse allocations.

  • Ensure accurate lesson/schooling timetables and timely incident reporting.

 

8. Other Duties

  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by Senior Manager Equestrian.

About You

You should have:

 

  • The job holder must have acquired minimum BHS Stage 4 completed or equivalent with a minimum of 10 years relevant work experience
  • Personable, enthusiastic and positive personality
  • Passion for horses and horse riding
  • Excellent communicator in English, and preferably in Chinese
