Senior Manager, Strategic Procurement (Racing)

Job Summary

The job holder heads a sub-category team to deliver comprehensive strategic procurement and commercial and contract management services. The job holder aims to enhance procurement performance in terms of reliability, quality, and cost-effectiveness. Key responsibilities include developing sourcing strategies, managing supplier relationships to make the Club a preferred customer, collaborating with finance and business units on demand plan, fostering innovation, and balancing collaboration with competition. As a sub-category team lead within Strategic Procurement category team, the job holder handles escalation from Assistant Managers and (Senior) Procurement Officer, manages the tender process, and works with stakeholders to assess supplier proposals and oversee contract awards and execution.

Major Tasks

Demand Planning and Procurement Involvement

  • Conduct demand planning reviews, drive actions associated with spend analysis, and ensure appropriate category knowledge and data are maintained and shared
  • Manage procurement demand and ensure sub-category plan aligns with project requirements
  • Regularly update all internal stakeholders with progress in a structured format
  • Proactively manage internal stakeholders to ensure full value from strategic procurement and category management activities

Sub-Category Plan Development

  • Develop and implement sub-category plans ensuring supply availability, quality standards, and best value to the Club
  • Identify opportunity improvement targets and deliver year-on-year benefits
  • Define sub-category strategies and objectives aligned with Business/User departments' targets
  • Engage with key stakeholders to support procurement and category management strategies
  • Develop sub-category plans through dynamic analysis of cost structures, supplier research, and market indicators
  • Update plans and strategies to reflect changes in needs, industry, and business environment

Market Intelligence and Sourcing Opportunities

  • Monitor the market for new goods, services, and technologies compatible with user requirements and Club standards
  • Check regional/global sourcing possibilities and benchmark with negotiated prices
  • Develop sourcing strategies with EM/DEM to identify new market trends and support future needs
  • Maintain a knowledge database of supplier markets, capabilities, and technology
  • Guide junior team members on spend analysis, market research, and sourcing activities

Strategic Initiatives and Supplier Strategies

  • Formulate procurement strategies for major purchases and conduct regular reviews
  • Participate in major projects, support supplier negotiations, and manage contracts
  • Oversee daily procurement activities to ensure best terms within guidelines
  • Supervise a team of staff to achieve departmental objectives

Supplier Relationship Management

  • Develop and manage strategic relationships with suppliers
  • Introduce performance measures and assessment tools for continuous improvement
  • Ensure compliance, cost, delivery, quality, and sustainability in category improvement practices
  • Review the supply marketplace for specific categories
  • Implement a feedback loop for supplier development
  • Administer supplier registration and manage the supply base

Supply Chain Reliability

  • Develop market intelligence on suppliers
  • Source and prequalify suppliers in collaboration with business stakeholders
  • Maintain a database of competent suppliers
  • Ensure suppliers meet performance specifications/SLAs
  • Evaluate and manage supply risk and establish contingency plans for supply continuity

Education

Degree holder with professional qualification in Procurement, Business Administration
