Senior Manager, Strategic Procurement (Racing)

Founded in 1884, The Hong Kong Jockey Club (“the Club”) is a world-class racing club that acts continuously for the betterment of our society. The Job

  • Strategic Procurement Implementation
    • Utilise best-practice strategic procurement and category management approaches
    • Collaborate with HSP to develop sustainable procurement strategies for short, medium, and long-term needs
    • Ensure comprehensive input into strategy development across functions, divisions, departments, and levels
  • Procurement Demand Planning
    • Conduct demand planning reviews and derive insights from spend analysis
    • Maintain category knowledge and data, incorporating benchmarks and estimations into strategies
    • Regularly update stakeholders on Category procurement progress
    • Proactively manage stakeholders to maximise value from strategic procurement activities
  • Strategic Category Management
    • Develop a strategic approach to manage assigned categories for timely, quality supply and best value
    • Identify opportunity improvement targets and deliver annual benefits
    • Define sub-category strategies and objectives aligned with business/user department targets
    • Engage with stakeholders to support innovative procurement and category management strategies
    • Update strategies to reflect changes in needs, industry, and business environment
    • Regularly check regional/global sourcing possibilities and benchmark prices
  • Strategic Initiative Projects
    • Lead projects on specific strategic initiatives with defined scopes and goals
    • Conduct feasibility studies and market research for sourcing and supplier strategies
    • Effectively manage project resources, planning, timelines, and deliverables
    • Develop presentation materials for stakeholder and management communications
    • Plan for long-lasting business benefits from project deliverables
  • Sourcing Strategy Development
    • Jointly develop sourcing strategy with EM and sub-category leads for supply continuity
    • Identify business requirements for common purchases and develop key suppliers
    • Cultivate a China market sourcing strategy to reduce import dependence
    • Benchmark and assess the supply market, risks, competition, trends, and opportunities
    • Develop short, medium, and long-term sourcing strategy with EM
  • Supplier Strategy and Management
    • Develop and manage strategic supplier relationships
    • Regularly review the supply marketplace for the assigned category
    • Implement a formal feedback loop for supplier development
    • Ensure supplier development aligns with category strategy and planning
    • Attend industry events to gather market intelligence and build a global sourcing network
  • Stakeholder Coordination
    • Coordinate supplier development activities with business, sub-category teams, and CRC team
    • Facilitate executive meetings to follow through on action items and meet project milestones
    • Set up regular meetings with stakeholders, including business, operations, CRC team, and external suppliers

About You

  • Degree holder with a professional qualification in Procurement, Business Administration, or Operational Management
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in procurement and commercial management is essential
