The Department

The IT Wagering Solutions Department of The Hong Kong Jockey Club plays a vital role in the organisation by providing application solutions for the Sports Wagering portfolio.  The department responsible for delivering the SP3d Fixed Odds Host Systems, which are essential for ensuring accurate and efficient betting processes.  Additionally, the department is tasked with delivering racing wagering and lottery transaction host components, including comingling gateways, control systems, and associated information systems lifecycle.  Oversee the entire Agi​le delivery process, ensuring high-quality and timely development of the Club's Backend Wagering Platforms.

The Job

You will:

  • Engage in effort estimation, service and application design, code construction, testing, maintenance and support of high-volume customer-facing web channel applications, comprising client, server and database components
  • Design, enhance, develop and maintain systems to support the business and IT requirements
  • Conducting feasibility studies to evaluate or pilot new business-enabling technology
  • Ensure functional and non-functional requirements are complete and clear. Review and clarify requirements with various stakeholders including business and IT stakeholders
  • Ensure ownership and traceability of business requirements and functional specifications throughout the project lifecycle
  • Performing software design and conducting reviews according to business requirements and defined Club IT processes and standards
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, product owners, architects, system assurance, project managers and operations team to deliver a high quality system, on time and on budget
  • Work closely with Shenzhen development teams, System Assurance, Infrastructure and Operation teams to deliver high-quality systems
  • Assist in ensuring that teams use best practice requirements management tools and techniques and help drive the adoption and continual improvement of these processes and tools

About You

You should have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Business, Engineering, IT, or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 8 years relevant experience
  • 4+years of experience in IT project management and status reporting
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in using business analysis tools, requirement repository tools, and other project delivery tools such as Jira, Confluence, Serena
  • Knowledge of UML, in particular Use Case is essential
  • CBAP or equivalent certification would be an advantage
  • Agile Certification an advantage (preferably as a Product Owner)
  • Capacity to build strong working relationships with internal IT & business managers, and must be a team player
  • Ability to develop effective business relationships and build consensus

About You (cont.)

  • Strong capability in problem determination and problem-solving
  • Strong communication skills in both written and spoken English
  • Good command of spoken and Cantonese and Putonghua
  • Good knowledge of gambling or the gaming industry
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, i.e. Word and Excel
