Assistant Technical Manager, Systems

We design, build, and operate the technology that powers the Club. Our primary focus is on delivering the service that supports our hospitality, racing and wagering operations, to ensure that our customers and members enjoy exceptional experiences.
We also deliver the changes necessary to drive business growth through new products and services. And, we are committed to safeguarding the Club by protecting it from external threats, providing a secure and resilient technological environment.
The Department
The IT Infrastructure and Platform Operations Department is responsible for the design, implementation, and management of the infrastructure that supports the Club’s IT systems, and leads the Service Management capabilities that ensure the smooth running of these systems.
This department ensures that all technological resources operate efficiently and effectively to support business objectives. Key responsibilities include:
- Design and operate processes and controls that ensure IT service availability, performance, and resilience are aligned with business expectations.
- Manage the 24x7 IT Operations Centre.
- Manage the Club’s exploitation of the public cloud.
- Manage the complete lifecycle of the Club’s IT network and the technology within our data centres.
- Provide the roadmaps, standards, and capabilities that enable our IT infrastructure to remain current (eligible for vendor support) and secure (patched and remediated against CVEs).
- Provide the Club’s colleague collaboration technology suite, including desktop and laptop computers, mobile devices, collaboration tools, carrier contracts, and associated support functions.
The Job
You will:
- Plan and maintain patch schedules and maintenance windows for the Windows and Linux server environment
- Create, test and approve Fixlets, tasks and baselines in HCL BigFix
- Execute staged patch rollouts (Test / Development / SAT / Production) and manage blackout/rollback procedures
- Coordinate patch testing with application/QA teams in non-production environments to identify compatibility issues
- Create change management tickets
- Track and meet patch SLAs and compliance targets; escalate exceptions
- Review and interpret Nessus scan reports to identify missing OS and application patches relevant to Windows and Linux servers
About You
You should have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in IT infrastructure with hands-on server patching responsibilities
- Minimum 3 years’ experience with HCL Bigfix and/or equivalent endpoint management software
- Proven hands‑on experience with HCL BigFix (console, baselines, Fixlets/tasks, relevance language, actionscript) for server patch deployments
- Experience working with vulnerability management and compliance/audit processes (remediation tracking, evidence for audits)
- HCL BigFix: console administration, baselines/Fixlets/tasks creation, relevance language, actionscript, relay/client troubleshooting
- OS patching: Windows Server (2012/2016/2019/2022) and major Linux distributions (RHEL/ SUSE)
- Vulnerability scanning: ability to interpret Tenable/Nessus reports and map findings to patch remediation
- Strong Windows/ Linux server Troubleshooting skills
- Scripting for remediation/automation: PowerShell; SQL queries; Relevance Language
- Strong problem‑solving and root‑cause analysis skills; detail-oriented
- Good stakeholder management: coordinate with application owners, security, and operations
- Ability to work independently
- Strong verbal & written communication skills
- Comfortable working in on‑call/incident response rotations for critical patch events
