Deputy Executive Manager, Data Strategy and Data Science (3-years contract)

The Club has a unique integrated business model, comprising racing and racecourse entertainment, a membership club, responsible sports wagering and lottery, and charities and community contribution. Through this model, the Club generates economic and social value for the community and supports the HKSAR Government in combatting illegal gambling.
The Department
The Membership and Customer Excellence (MCE) Division is responsible for delivering world-class experiences and deepening engagement across all customer segments. The team oversees operations of clubhouses, racecourses, and Off-Course Betting Branches (OCBBs), while enhancing member and owner value propositions and promoting interest in horse ownership and equestrian sports. It leads the Club’s customer experience strategy across digital and physical touchpoints, ensuring consistency, agility, and excellence. The Division also manages data strategy and governance to build a unified view of customers, enabling more personalised and impactful interactions.
The Job
- Data & AI Strategy use cases: Facilitate a team (10-15+) across business divisions to deliver a use case with a sizable impact
- Support Wagering and Membership business sponsors in shaping the data & AI use cases that deliver impact, including identification of data-enabled business levers and identification of any business enablers that ensure impact from data (e.g. operating model around the use of data)
- As a sparring partner to the business use case owner, facilitate the change management related to the delivery and launch of data-related use cases
- Data & AI Strategy capabilities: Derive required capabilities upgrade to support at scale data transformation of the Club
- Identify the use case, generated data capabilities (tech or data governance) requirements, and share with the Al & Data Product team for further prioritisation
- Change Management & Communication: Support Senior stakeholders (BOM and Executives) communication to deliver the desired alignment across the Club on use cases and capabilities
- Prepare meeting materials for stakeholder syndication in designing the use cases, and a regular update that involves a strong understanding of data domain knowledge
- Team leadership: Provide guidance and management of the use case strategy and decision science team leads - work with the leads to prepare a relevant Stakeholder communication document for strategic discussion across the Club on the Data topic
- Team management to ensure effective synergies and a clear division of work for optimal impact
- Advanced Analytics: Application of Data to generate impactful insights to support Customer strategy design
- Give business case-related input to steer the development plan of data science work
- Guide and work with the team lead of data science to ensure effective stakeholder communication
About You
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as Computing, Mathematics, Statistics, Business Administration, Finance, or a related discipline. Advanced degrees (e.g., MSc, MBA) are preferred
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in data analytics, project management, or related fields, with a demonstrated ability to apply various analytical techniques, including quantitative and/or financial modelling, data visualisation and machine learning
- Proven experience managing the full project lifecycle, including agile methodologies, with a track record of delivering complex projects successfully
- Knowledge and experience working on data analytics or the delivery of data analytics solutions
- Strong technical knowledge in business intelligence development with large volumes and complex data structures
- Leadership experience in developing and mentoring teams
