Deputy Executive Manager, UX/ UI Design (3-Year Contract)

The Job

  • Provide leadership for UX/UI design across basketball wagering experiences, ensuring journeys are intuitive, accessible, and customer-centric
  • Establish and maintain a scalable design system, interaction standards, and reusable patterns that future-proof the Club’s digital wagering experiences
  • Build, coach, and develop a high-performing UX/UI design team, fostering strong design craft, collaborative culture, and continuous improvement
  • Rapidly develop domain knowledge in regulated wagering and embed behavioural and operational insights into design frameworks and decision-making
  • Collaborate closely with Product Managers and Product Owners to ensure design thinking influences discovery, shaping, refinement, and prioritisation
  • Translate customer research, usability insights, and behavioural data into clear, intuitive, responsible wagering user experiences
  • Oversee usability testing and validation activities, ensuring findings inform design iteration, quality, and product decision-making
  • Proactively challenge legacy UX assumptions, complaint-driven decisions, and outdated patterns by championing evidence-based, modern design methodologies
  • Ensure all design deliverables meet regulatory, responsible gambling, accessibility, and compliance requirements across digital touchpoints
  • Partner with Engineering, Trading, Channels, Operations and relevant teams in the Club to ensure design intent is preserved throughout delivery, testing, and launch

About You

  • 10+ years of UX/UI design experience in complex digital environments
  • 3–5 years in a design leadership or people management role
  • Proven ability to build and scale design systems and drive design excellence
  • Demonstrated success leading teams through modern design practices, design reviews, and constructive critique
  • Ability to learn domain knowledge quickly (e.g., wagering, regulated systems, gaming)
  • Strong portfolio showcasing interaction design, visual design, and leadership impact
  • Strong expertise in UX design, UI design, interaction design, and prototyping
  • Proficiency in Figma and design system tools
  • Understanding of user research methods and ability to apply insights to design decisions
  • Familiarity with agile product development and working with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Awareness of accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG), responsive design, and behavioural design
