Senior Business Insights & Data Analyst

Founded in 1884, The Hong Kong Jockey Club (“the Club”) is a world-class racing club that acts continuously for the betterment of our society. The Club has a unique integrated business model, comprising racing and racecourse entertainment, a membership club, responsible sports wagering and lottery, and charities and community contribution. Through this model, the Club generates economic and social value for the community and supports the HKSAR Government in combatting illegal gambling.

 

The Division

The Customer Strategy, Insights and Innovation (CSII) Division identifies and leads the customer journey for all stakeholders across the Club ecosystem. The Division centralises the Club’s customer understanding and insights across owners, members and wagering customers, striving for innovation via our Digital and Retail channels. Through enhanced data provision & insights, and online / offline customer strategies devised, improve the channels’ and segment teams’ ability to enhance customer experience, drive wagering turnover and groom customers up the tiers.

Job Summary

Reporting to Deputy Executive Manager, Business Insights & Data Analytics, the job holder is responsible for analysing and identifying insights for management on business development opportunities.

 

The Job

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to provide in-depth analysis and business insights, and support tasks as appropriate to achieve wagering business KPIs and cross-divisional business needs. Use analytics and data visualisation tools to provide data-driven recommendation on wagering segment’s business issues and marketing programs, digital and physical channel design and operations as well as generating insights for other Divisions
  • Collect data and dashboard / report requirements to support business analysis for insights
  • Develop dashboard and reports to automate data visualistaion and regular reporting to formulate actionable insights and recommendations
  • Ability to use Alteryx and/or SQL to formulate complex queries to retrieve and manipulate data from various databases.  Wrangle data to support data analysis and data visualisation
  • Maintain dashboards and reports for the Division
  • Identify opportunities for process enhancements and implement best practices in data analytics
  • Ensure compliance with Responsible Gambling Policy and all stipulated legal requirements pertaining to wagering, thereby protecting the integrity of the Club’s businesses
  • Undertake other duties as assigned by supervisors

 

About You

  • Bachelor degree in Statistics, Quantitative Analysis, Computer Science, Data Science or related disciplines
  • A minimum of 4 years’ relevant experience in customer analysis and data visualisation
  • Hands-on experience in relational database
  • Experience in various data transformation techniques to aggregate transactional data
  • Experience working with SQL and Tableau is a must
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and derive actionable insights
  • Transform raw data into meaningful visualisations that drive strategic decisions
  • Ability to work extensively with data wrangling and visualisation tool (e.g. Tableau, Alteryx)
  • Good business acumen, consumer market trends and problem solving
  • Strong presentation and storytelling skills
  • Experience in Alteryx, Python, Databricks, customer data modeling is a plus
