Senior Manager, Employee Safety and Health

Job Summary

This position leads the Corporate Occupational Safety and Health ("OSH") team providing advice, governance and oversight on all workplace safety matters on behalf of the Corporate Safety Steering Committee (CSSC). This includes governing the Club's Safety System and protecting both the Club's interest and employees' safety and health while complying with all legal requirements.

 

The position holder chairs the Corporate OSH Committee (COSHC) including formulating strategies for OSH policy, overseeing the OSH Management System, managing risk and driving continuous improvement in safety across HKJC and all direct and related subsidiaries.

 

The position holder also advises other Club-wide safety committees, departmental OSH committees and line managers to assist them in performing the role of the second and first line of defense respectively and achieving a self-regulatory mechanism for each safety committee in governing their specific safety area.

 

Lastly, the position holder oversees the Return-to-Work Programme, working closely with the HR Business Facing team to support employees through the process of injury rehabilitation and a managed return to duties after any health or injury case.

The Job

  • Support Corporate Safety Steering Committee (CSSC) to develop employee safety strategies, policies, standards, frameworks, tools, targets and performance and to promote a “Proactive” safety culture.  
  • Facilitate all Safety Committees in performing their role as the second0 line of defense, setting safety performance targets and ensuring their implementation plans are tracked and followed through
  • Plan, schedule and track the agenda, actions and outcomes for the Corporate OSH Committee (COSHC).
  • Advise HKJC and direct subsidiaries’ safety committees on OSH-related issues from a legal, policy and best practice perspective.
  • Govern and administer the HKJC safety system, including permissions and access, configuration, processes, data handling and performance analysis as well as related communication and training on its use.
  • Support ongoing development and enhancement of the Corporate OSH Management Manual, handbooks, e-Learning materials, related policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Coordinate and/or conduct OSH inspections and risk assessments and suggest relevant remedial actions to prevent accidents.
  • Conduct investigations into serious accidents/incidents and recommend corrective and preventive measures to prevent the recurrence of similar accidents.
  • Promote OSH awareness among staff through relevant training, workshops, seminars and programs and publishes relevant information through the Club’s various employee communication channels.
  • Own and drive the “Return to Work” Programme to ensure injured employees are supported in their rehabilitation and return to duties.

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional qualifications in disciplines related to OSH
  • Registered as a Safety Officer under the HK Labour Department 
  • Membership in professional institution of Occupational Safety and Health
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in OSH management within sizable organizations
  • PRC working experience or familiar in the relevant laws and regulations as well as China National Standards (i.e. GB Standards) is an advantage
  • Committee member of Hong Kong or overseas OSH association / policy group is preferred
