Founded in 1884, The Hong Kong Jockey Club (“the Club”) is a world-class racing club that acts continuously for the betterment of our society. The Club has a unique integrated business model, comprising racing and racecourse entertainment, a membership club, responsible sports wagering and lottery, and charities and community contribution. Through this model, the Club generates economic and social value for the community and supports the HKSAR Government in combatting illegal gambling.

We design, build, and operate the technology that powers the Club. Our primary focus is on delivering the service that supports our hospitality, racing and wagering operations, to ensure that our customers and members enjoy exceptional experiences.
We also deliver the changes necessary to drive business growth through new products and services. And, we are committed to safeguarding the Club by protecting it from external threats, providing a secure and resilient technological environment.
The Department
The IT Infrastructure and Platform Operations Department is responsible for the design, implementation, and management of the infrastructure that supports the Club’s IT systems, and leads the Service Management capabilities that ensure the smooth running of these systems.
This department ensures that all technological resources operate efficiently and effectively to support business objectives. Key responsibilities include:
- Design and operate processes and controls that ensure IT service availability, performance, and resilience are aligned with business expectations.
- Manage the 24x7 IT Operations Centre.
- Manage the Club’s exploitation of the public cloud.
- Manage the complete lifecycle of the Club’s IT network and the technology within our data centres.
- Provide the roadmaps, standards, and capabilities that enable our IT infrastructure to remain current (eligible for vendor support) and secure (patched and remediated against CVEs).
- Provide the Club’s colleague collaboration technology suite, including desktop and laptop computers, mobile devices, collaboration tools, carrier contracts, and associated support functions.
The Job
- Lead development teams in the estimation, design, construction, testing, maintenance, support, and installation of complex computer-based solutions
- Oversee the translation of business requirements into functional designs that align with architectural standards and roadmaps
- Participate in the Application Development management team and contribute to operational and strategic planning
- Ensure compliance with established standards and processes throughout the development lifecycle
- Lead the architecture design on the APIGW-related product
- Develop self-service tools to enable seamless onboarding of other systems to the API Gateway
- Collaborate with the System Assurance and Change Control teams to ensure projects are tested and deployed to production environments
- Improve technical team outputs, from documentation to source code quality. Enhance development processes and automation to boost efficiency
- Provide 2nd line production support, troubleshoot incidents, and implement solutions
- Align personal development plan with business objectives and embrace the transformation to move the team/department forward
About You
- A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Engineering
- Minimum of 10 years of work experience in software development (Java), system integration, technical architecture, solution documentation, and system support
- Proven experience in enterprise systems and implementation
- Hands-on experience in software development, particularly in large-scale systems
- Experience in application development on platforms such as .NET, Java, or C/C++
- Experience in the DevOps Tools (Jenkins, Git, Artifactory, Sonar, BitBucket, Ansible and Terraform)
- Experience in the Cloud & Containers (AWS, Azure, Tencent, Docker, Kubernetes, Red Hat OpenShift)
- Experience in the databases (Oracle, MySQL, MongoDB)
- Experience in the APIs & Middleware (Kong Gateway, MuleSoft, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Solace)
- Experience in Monitoring & Observability: ELK, Grafana, DataDog, Dynatrace)
- Experience with system design focused on high availability and performance
- Experience with Agile and Waterfall methodologies
- Knowledge of system monitoring tools and protocols (FTP, SFTP, HTTP/S)
- Familiarity with JIRA, Confluence, and DevOps practices
- Proven staff management and supervision capabilities, preferably with multi-site development experience
