Senior Technical Manager, End User Computing

Founded in 1884, The Hong Kong Jockey Club (“the Club”) is a world-class racing club that acts continuously for the betterment of our society. The Club has a unique integrated business model, comprising racing and racecourse entertainment, a membership club, responsible sports wagering and lottery, and charities and community contribution. We design, build, and operate the technology that powers the Club. Our primary focus is on delivering the service that supports our hospitality, racing and wagering operations, to ensure that our customers and members enjoy exceptional experiences.

We also deliver the changes necessary to drive business growth through new products and services. And, we are committed to safeguarding the Club by protecting it from external threats, providing a secure and resilient technological environment.

The Department

The IT Infrastructure and Platform Operations Department is responsible for the design, implementation, and management of the infrastructure that supports the Club’s IT systems, and leads the Service Management capabilities that ensure the smooth running of these systems.

This department ensures that all technological resources operate efficiently and effectively to support business objectives. Key responsibilities include:

  • Design and operate processes and controls that ensure IT service availability, performance, and resilience are aligned with business expectations.
  • Manage the 24x7 IT Operations Centre.
  • Manage the Club’s exploitation of the public cloud.
  • Manage the complete lifecycle of the Club’s IT network and the technology within our data centres.
  • Provide the roadmaps, standards, and capabilities that enable our IT infrastructure to remain current (eligible for vendor support) and secure (patched and remediated against CVEs).
  • Provide the Club’s colleague collaboration technology suite, including desktop and laptop computers, mobile devices, collaboration tools, carrier contracts, and associated support functions.

The Job

  • Support the definition and delivery of the next generation End User Computing roadmap and initiatives, including digital workplace, AI and Microsoft Copilot capabilities
  • Manage, develop and deploy desktop solutions, workplace technologies and mobility solutions to meet business needs and IT workplace roadmap
  • Provide technical support to End User systems and tools, desktop applications, platforms, Remote Access and Mobility solutions, etc.
  • Support the implementation and governance of compliance, security and responsible AI framework for Microsoft Copilot and AI capabilities within End User Computing, in alignment with enterprise risk, data protection and regulatory requirements
  • Act as a technology advocate for digital workplace, AI and Copilot capabilities, promoting awareness, adoption and effective usage across business units through user education and change initiatives
  • Work collaboratively with HKJC IT teams, Business users and vendor(s) to deliver products and services as specified, on time and within agreed cost
  • Keep current with trends and issues in the IT industry and provide input on their impact on End User Computing services
  • Participate and contribute positively to create a diverse and inclusive culture with trust and respect, supporting cross-team/division/department efforts and collaborative behaviours

About You

  • University degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Relevant certifications in Microsoft technology, Project Management and IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) are advantageous
  • Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate, MCSE, MCDST, MCP, PMP, Prince2 or ITIL are beneficial
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in IT End User Computing, desktop support, IT operations or end user support roles
  • Experience in managing end-user systems and communications devices using current Microsoft technologies such as SharePoint, Exchange, M365 and SCCM, as well as MDM and VDI services
  • Good understanding of project and service management, governance, policy and compliance
  • Ability to work closely with cross-functional IT teams, internal users, external service providers and suppliers to resolve issues and improve service delivery
  • Experience in desktop environments, operating systems, productivity software, remote support tools, virtualisation technologies and mobility solutions
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to document and present technical issues and management reports effectively
