Founded in 1884, The Hong Kong Jockey Club (“the Club”) is a world-class racing club that acts continuously for the betterment of our society. We design, build, and operate the technology that powers the Club. Our primary focus is on delivering the service that supports our hospitality, racing and wagering operations, to ensure that our customers and members enjoy exceptional experiences.
We also deliver the changes necessary to drive business growth through new products and services. And, we are committed to safeguarding the Club by protecting it from external threats, providing a secure and resilient technological environment.
The Department
The IT Infrastructure and Platform Operations Department is responsible for the design, implementation, and management of the infrastructure that supports the Club’s IT systems, and leads the Service Management capabilities that ensure the smooth running of these systems.
This department ensures that all technological resources operate efficiently and effectively to support business objectives. Key responsibilities include:
- Design and operate processes and controls that ensure IT service availability, performance, and resilience are aligned with business expectations.
- Manage the 24x7 IT Operations Centre.
- Manage the Club’s exploitation of the public cloud.
- Manage the complete lifecycle of the Club’s IT network and the technology within our data centres.
- Provide the roadmaps, standards, and capabilities that enable our IT infrastructure to remain current (eligible for vendor support) and secure (patched and remediated against CVEs).
- Provide the Club’s colleague collaboration technology suite, including desktop and laptop computers, mobile devices, collaboration tools, carrier contracts, and associated support functions.
About The Role
- We are seeking a highly experienced Network Architect to define, modernise, and shape the future‑state vision for data centre and enterprise networks
- This is a senior individual contributor role focused on high‑level & low-level design, architectural governance, and long‑term network strategy, ideal for someone who brings deep technical acumen and thrives in complex, enterprise‑scale environments
- You will partner closely with engineering, operations, and security teams to uplift legacy designs, standardise network frameworks, and build the foundations for future automation and 24/7 trading operations
The Job
- Architecture & Design the data centre and enterprise network.
- Develop end‑to‑end high‑level designs (HLDs), architectural diagrams, and routing strategies.
- Modernise and uplift legacy network designs into scalable, future‑proof architectures.
- Shape technical direction through expert requirement gathering and solution scoping.
- Standards & Governance

- Build and maintain enterprise‑wide network standards and patterns.
- Drive the development and enforcement of network architecture and design standards & patterns, ensuring consistency, scalability, and alignment with enterprise-wide technology strategies. Lead governance efforts to validate architectural decisions and promote best practices across all infrastructure projects.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and network security standards.
- Automation & Enablement

- Create architecture patterns to support standard network deployments, and in the target state, move on to automated network deployments.
- Reduce manual workload via standard templates and scalable design patterns.
- Work alongside operations teams to ensure smooth adoption of standards.
- Strategic Road‑mapping

- Define network architecture roadmap, aligning with business requirements.
- Architect solutions to support resilient, high‑availability requirements and future cloud integration.
- Keep abreast of emerging network technologies and best practices. Continuously evaluate and recommend improvements in network infrastructure and operations.
- Stakeholder Engagement

- Act as an SME across the organisation
- Partner with Infrastructure, Network operations, Security, and vendor teams
About You
- 15 years in network engineering, design, and architecture
- Deep expertise in data centre and enterprise‑scale networks
- Proven ability to work independently at an architectural leadership level
- Certifications such as CCIE Data Centre / Enterprise, CCNP are highly preferred
- Proven experience in network architecture and strategic project delivery
- Extensive knowledge of advanced network technologies, including ACI, VxLAN, SDWAN, Wireless Infrastructure and Cloud networking (AWS, Azure & Tencent), and network security solutions
- Demonstrated success in leading mission-critical network projects, encompassing design, testing, upgrades, migrations, and automation of network operations
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong problem-solving capabilities
- Excellent analytical, presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams and stakeholders in large organisations
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently, with a strong focus on delivering results
- Familiarity with observability, provisioning & ITSM tooling (e.g., SolarWinds, ThousandEyes, Splunk, ServiceNow, Jira, Confluence, Terraform, & Ansible)
