Technical Manager, Application Development

We design, build, and operate the technology that powers the Club. Our primary focus is on delivering the service that supports our hospitality, racing and wagering operations, to ensure that our customers and members enjoy exceptional experiences.

We also deliver the changes necessary to drive business growth through new products and services. And, we are committed to safeguarding the Club by protecting it from external threats, providing a secure and resilient technological environment.

The Job

You will:

  • Engaging in story estimation, service and application design, code construction, testing, maintenance and support of wagering product & systems, other wagering systems and IT solutions
  • Conducting feasibility studies to evaluate or pilot new business-enabling technology
  • Planning resources to accomplish development tasks, monitor and report the progress
  • Performing software development and conducting reviews according to business objectives/user stories, and defined Club IT processes and standards
  • Seeking opportunities to continuously improve work practices and team achievements
  • Providing support and conducting troubleshooting when issues are identified
  • Communicating with product owners, operations and assurance teams
  • Align personal development plan with business objectives and embrace the transformation to move the team/department forward
  • Leading the design and development of automation tools using Jenkins or Terraform
  • Helping the team to adopt the cloud-related DevOps tools like Docker, Argo CD and Kubernetes, etc.
  • Leading the cloud tools design and provisioning, e.g. AWS

About You

You should have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or a related discipline
  • Minimum 6 – 10 years of experience in software design, development or support areas. Working experience on large-scale, high-availability and high-performance systems, particularly in online transaction processing systems, is preferred
  • Programming skills in at least one of the following: Java, C# or SQL Language
  • Understanding of design patterns for Application, Microservices, Data, Infrastructure and Integration / Data mesh architecture
  • Hands-on experience in designing and deploying applications using Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience in debugging or troubleshooting high-performance distribution systems
  • Understanding the cloud architecture, such as IAM, RDS, etc.
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools, including Bitbucket, Jenkins, and Jira, is preferable
  • Experience in messaging protocol (e.g., Solace), NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB/Redis) database design is an advantage
  • Experience in high-performance transaction processing, event processing or Cloud infrastructure platforms is an advantage
  • Experience of using infrastructure as code (IaC), like Terraform, is preferred
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English. Cantonese and Putonghua are also preferred
