Programme
1.1 When will the programme commence?
The programme typically commences in early August each year. Prior to the official start date, there may be engagement activities to facilitate your onboarding. You will be duly notified once an offer has been extended.
1.2 What salary and benefits will be offered?
We offer comprehensive compensation including a competitive salary, a highly attractive benefits package and performance-based bonuses.
1.3 What kind of training will I receive?
The learning and development programme utilises 'the 70/20/10 principle' and is competency-based, with the aim being to develop your professional and general management capabilities. During the three years of the programme, a variety of training activities will develop your personal effectiveness and self-leadership and help you transition to a supervisory role. You will also have opportunities to participate in business and management sharing sessions and action learning projects to further develop your competencies as a future-ready leader.
1.4 What kind of support will I receive during the programme?
Throughout each rotation and attachment, you will be guided by a dedicated manager-coach and supported by a team buddy to facilitate your learning and integration. Our Early Careers Programme team will closely monitor your progress and provide ongoing career advice, ensuring you receive comprehensive support at every stage of your development.
1.5 How many job rotations will I have?
A significant part of your development will be hands-on, experiential learning. Throughout the three-year journey, you will undertake six rotations aimed at providing comprehensive exposure to the Club's operations. The goal of this structure is twofold: to develop your core professional competencies and to facilitate your placement into a final role that matches your capabilities and career ambitions.
1.6 Will I have the opportunity to work in locations other than Hong Kong?
While the Club is mainly based in Hong Kong, we also encourage Management Trainees to experience our business activities and projects in the Mainland, or even at the international level - subject to development needs, timing and the opportunities available.
1.7 Do I need to have a substantial understanding of the racing industry to become a Management Trainee?
We welcome all high-calibre candidates. Having a keen interest in racing, football and sport is beneficial, but not a must. Once you have been through our onboarding and training activities you will pick up domain knowledge very quickly.
1.8 What can I expect at the end of the programme?
Management Trainees who perform satisfactorily and demonstrate potential will be promoted to a supervisory position. We fully expect you to become part of our leadership pipeline identified as part of our robust talent review process, further supported by leadership development programmes to build your competency and career development. While we will closely track your career progress, you are expected and empowered to take ownership of your personal and career development in partnership with your manager.
Application
2.1 What key attributes are the Club looking for in candidates?
We are looking for people who have the potential to become a future leader in the Club. That is, candidates who are highly motivated, purpose-driven, and able to learn independently and fast. You should not be afraid to deal with challenges, ambiguity and take risks when necessary. You should also have strong communication, problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
2.2 Does it make any difference if I am currently/was a full-time/part-time employee or intern of the Club?
In general, all candidates have an equal opportunity to join the programme and will go through the same application and selection process. Candidates will be evaluated based on their performance in online tests, their participation in the assessment centre activities, and their responses during the final interviews.
2.3 How many preferences should I indicate when applying?
During the online application process, you will be required to indicate your most preferred function. We encourage you also to indicate a second preference or be open to other areas. This would widen the scope and enable us to identify a path that will match your skills and experience.
2.4 Can I apply if I am studying overseas?
Yes, so as long as you fulfill our requirements. Typically you will need to complete the online assessments and attend an assessment centre and interviews in Hong Kong. Depending on the situation, we may contact candidates who are unable to participate in the planned selection process for alternative arrangements, such as online interviews and virtual assessments.
2.5 Can I still apply if I do not have Right of Residence in Hong Kong?
International candidates are encouraged to apply. Employment offers are contingent upon successful work visa approval by the Hong Kong SAR. Our dedicated HR team will provide guidance and support throughout the visa application process following a formal offer.
2.6 If I am unsuccessful in my application, can I re-apply for the programme or other job openings at the Club?
You are welcome to re-apply for the Management Trainee Programme in future, or for any other job opportunities at the Club that interest you. We may also approach you with opportunities which might fit your capabilities and preferences.
2.7 Will I be notified if my application is unsuccessful?
You will receive official notification after each selection stage, with ongoing updates on timelines throughout the recruitment process.
2.8 Can I update my CV if I have already submitted in my online application?
You may log in to our online application system to update your CV or any other application details at any time.
