“Becoming a Connector and Change Agent Through the MT Journey.”
Hermes Kwok – Manager, Change Management, People and Organisational Development (2020 MT Alumni)
“Across my three-year MT journey, I had the privilege to rotate through diverse roles that helped shape my professional foundation. In my first and third years, I supported my host division, People & Organisational Development (P&OD), focusing on Talent Acquisition and Business Facing. These rotations deepened my understanding of our HR frameworks, metrics, and how cross-functional teams collaborate to support both people and business success. My second-year placement in Membership, Brand, Marketing and Experience (MBMX) was a rewarding pivot, I supported the design of our membership portal and coordinated the Club’s members’ magazine Badges’ production. It was here that I gained first-hand experience in project management, agile development, and requirements gathering. These are skills that continue to serve me well post-programme.
These experiences allowed me to connect with many dedicated professionals across divisions. Over time, I found myself becoming a “node”, a connector of information and people, enabling me to navigate change more effectively and support others in the process. This ability to bridge gaps has been crucial, especially as I later started support change management efforts for new digital tools within the Club. I've come to appreciate that successful change lies in keeping users informed, engaged, and empowered — a principle I’m passionate about carrying forward in my career.
Looking ahead, I’m eager to contribute to how the Club evolves, ensuring our workforce is supported, onboarded, and inspired throughout that journey. I’d encourage all future MTs to leverage your unique position, embrace every opportunity, and don’t be afraid to propose bold ideas. You’re surrounded by people who want you to succeed — so enjoy the process of learning and growing.”
