FAQ

Programme

1.1 When will the programme commence?
The programme typically commences in early July each year. You will be expected to commit to the full 8 weeks so that you can benefit fully from the programme and achieve key deliverables.
1.2 What kind of exposure will I experience?
To gain insights into the Club's organisational culture, you will gain hands-on experience in a department under the coaching of supervisors and experience the Club's operations throughout various events and activities.
1.3 What kind of support will I receive during the programme?
Throughout the internship, you will be guided by a dedicated manager-coach. Our Early Careers team will closely monitor your progress, ensuring you receive comprehensive support at every stage of your development.
1.4 Will I have the opportunity to work in locations other than Hong Kong?
While the Club is mainly based in Hong Kong, Summer Interns may experience our business activities and projects in the Chinese Mainland, or even at the international level - subject to development needs, timing and the opportunities available.
1.5 Do I need to have a substantial understanding of the racing industry to become a Summer Intern?
We welcome all high-calibre candidates. Having a keen interest in racing, football and sport is beneficial, but not a must. Once you have been through our onboarding activity you will pick up the knowledge very quickly.

Application

2.1 What key attributes is the Club looking for in candidates?
We are looking for people who have the potential to become a future leader in the Club. That is, candidates who are highly motivated, purpose-driven, and able to learn independently and fast. You should not be afraid to deal with challenges, ambiguity and take risks when necessary. You should also have strong communication, problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
2.2 Does it make any difference if I am currently/was a full-time/part-time employee or intern of the Club?
In general, all candidates have an equal opportunity to join the programme and will go through the same application and selection process. Candidates will be evaluated based on their performance in online tests, and their responses during the interviews.
2.3 How many preferences should I indicate when applying?
During the online application process, you will be required to indicate your most preferred function. We encourage you also to indicate a second preference or be open to other areas. This would widen the scope and enable us to identify a path that will match your skills and experience.
2.4 Can I apply if I am studying overseas?
Yes, as long as you meet our requirements. Typically, you will need to complete the online assessments and attend interviews in Hong Kong. Depending on the circumstances, we may contact candidates who are unable to participate in the planned selection process for alternative arrangements, such as online interviews.
2.5 Can I still apply if I do not have Right of Residence in Hong Kong?
You are required to hold a valid permit to work in Hong Kong SAR.
2.6 If I am unsuccessful in my application, can I re-apply for the programme or other job openings at the Club?
You are welcome to re-apply for the Summer Internship Programme in future, or for any other job opportunities at the Club that interest you. We may also approach you with opportunities which might fit your capabilities and preferences.
2.7 Will I be notified if my application is unsuccessful?
You will receive official notification after each selection stage, with ongoing updates on timelines throughout the recruitment process.
2.8 Can I update my CV if I have already submitted in my online application?
You may log in to our online application system to update your CV or any other application details at any time.
